At Decent, challenges inspire us to innovate. We observed that traditional shower screens — including our default IMS screen on DE1 — didn't get optimal water distribution at low-flow rates. Time to investigate.
Our team ran extensive tests and discovered that standard shower screens don't saturate the outer edges of the puck as much as the center, creating uneven water distribution.
With this new insight, we developed the Dimples and Freckles shower screens, which extend around the perimeter of the portafilter to ensure every part of your puck gets even water distribution. With our new technology, the water spreads more uniformly compared to the IMS screens at low flow rates (4ml/s and below). At higher flow rates, the distribution remains stable, without forming jets or channels that concentrate in one area.

If you're a DE1 v1.0 owner and you're replacing the default IMS screen, you can use the screw already in the machine. DE1 v1.1 or newer owners can use the improved screw that is included with the purchase.
